Let's Be Lucky Racing

About Us

Horse Racing Ownership

We are a unique family run horse racing syndicate, who offer a much more personal hands-on experience as an owner. Our weekly email updates ensure that every shareholder is given all details of work at home and races we plan to target for the season ahead. Every owner is welcomed to visit the horses at the stables and we also encourage to join us at the track on race days for the full experience. We currently own 14 horses, 10 of which are fully syndicated. 6 of those horses are trained by Rebecca Bastiman in Yorkshire, 4 of them are trained by Iain Jardine in Currutherstown, Dumfries. Then we have 1 horse with Phil Makin in Thirsk and 1 horse with Chris Gordon in Winchester. We have also just purchased 2 exciting yearlings to be trained by Paul George in Devon.

Newmarket Sales

Every year we invite shareholders to join us at the October sales meeting in Newmarket. This is a great chance to meet our team and witness first hand all of the effort that goes into trying to secure our main targets at the auction. This is a very exciting few days for the business and a great chance to enjoy a meal and a few beers on us! We believe we have a good eye for finding the right horses who are young, promising, well bred and potentially well handicapped horses who can improve and go onto win multiple races for us. We currently have shares available in 4 horses. Two 3 year olds purchased at the Newmarket July sales, WESTERN DAWN and AZOR AHAI. Then we have our new yearlings HAVANA PARTY and ELECTRIC ANGEL.

Join The Winning Team!

Our track record speaks for itself, with many successes over the years like NEWSTEAD ABBEY, who notched 3 wins on the bounce for us. Most notably winning the Royal Mile handicap at Musselburgh, before going on to fly the Let's Be Lucky colours running at Royal Ascot. PLAY NICELY was a Southwell specialist who won 3 out of 4 races for us at the track in the red & black. The first of those being an incredible win by 13 lengths over a mile and 2. He then went on to win a nice handicap at Beverly on the turf, before being sold for more than 4 times what we paid for him. It's a team effort at LBL and we believe in our ability to find out quickly what horses need and get the best out of them. As far as horse racing syndicates go, you can't go far wrong with Let's Be Lucky Racing. Buy racehorse shares with us today!

This is an exciting opportunity to buy into two well-bred yearlings, which could be anything.

We are offering an exciting two-horse package deal of 2018 yearlings, which will both be trained by Paul George in Devon. HAVANA PARTY is a colt by Havana Gold and ELECTRIC ANGEL is a filly by Markaz. Both are impressive looking, well bred young prospects, both of which have been doing everything right in their preparation. Their work will soon be stepped up, with the aim of being ready to run early next season.

Despite only taking out his training license last year, Paul George has already racked up an impressive 18 winners. He is a young ambitious man with an eye for a good horse. He has top class facilities at his stable in Devon and we are sure he can get the best out of these exciting young horses going forward. He also offers very reasonable travel costs, meaning we can travel to any track in England with them. This is an affordable opportunity to buy into two exciting young horses with smart pedigrees, which could be anything. Don’t miss out! Get in touch now to book your share.

HAVANA PARTY (Colt by Havana Gold, out of Ferayha)

This colt is out of Ferayha, a Darley-bred mare that raced once for Roger Varian in the Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum silks. She has produced four foals to this point, and only one runner, but there are high-quality elements to her pedigree, which indicate a bright future. Feryaha is out of the Grp-3 placed Albahaja, and five of her siblings were successful on the track. She is also a daughter of the great Cape Cross, whose reputation as a broodmare sire continues to soar. His mares are now responsible for the six-time Grp-1 winner Laurens and the Derby winners Masar and Australia, amongst others. Ferayha's other progeny yet to race include a two-year-old filly by sire of the moment Cable Bay, who can add to the page in due course.

The sire of this yearling, Havana Gold, was a Grp-3 winning two-year-old that trained on to win the Grp-1 Prix Jean Prat at three. He has made a very strong start to his stallion career, with his eldest progeny now four years of age. He was Champion First Crop Sire in 2017 and has already produced the Grp-1 winning sprinter and now sire Havana Grey and the dual Grp-3 winner Treasuring. He has been so successful that they have now raised his stud fee to £15,000, making him one of the top stallions in the country at the moment. Havana Gold has previously paired with a Cape Cross mare to produce the three-time winner Blyton Lass, and there is no reason to suggest this colt cannot follow in her footsteps and confirm the potency of the nick. Trainer Paul George reports that he has been doing everything asked of him, has a great attitude and is enjoying his work. HAVANA PARTY looks to be a smashing prospect for next year and beyond.

ELECTRIC ANGEL (Filly by Markaz, out of All Fur Coat)

Yearling filly by Mecca’s Angel’s full-sibling Markaz. The sire was a very classy operator at up to seven-furlongs for Owen Burrows, winning the Grp-3 Criterion Stakes and the Grp-3 Chipchase Stakes. A £200,000 yearling, he is by the outstanding Dark Angel and is a full-brother to the brilliant dual Grp-1 Nunthorpe Stakes heroine Mecca's Angel, so a stallion career was assured once he demonstrated above average racecourse talent. His first crop is awaited with great expectation in 2020, as he attracted a high-quality book of mares for his initial covering season. This was reflected in the sales ring as his foals sold for up to €60,000 last year, whilst at the recent Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale his yearlings went for as much as £50,000.

His speed influence looks sure to match well with the dam of this filly, All Fur Coat, who earned a peak rating of 87 having won over five-furlongs at Chester in the Lily Agnes Stakes (Class 2) as a two-year-old. Since retiring to breeding duties she has successfully matched with sprinters to produce two previous winners. All Fur Coat is in turn a sibling of the Listed-placed Prince Of Elegance, whilst her unraced half-sister Majestic Diva has gone on to produce the 13-time winner Stonefield Flyer - whose most notable performance occurred when second in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot. This is a seriously smart, fast and precocious pedigree. Trainer Paul George describes her as a "rocket" and also that she is a good mover and displays a lovely temperament. ELECTRIC ANGEL looks a tailormade two-year-old for next season.

WESTERN DAWN (2016 Colt BY Dawn Approach & Yes Oh Yes)

Will be trained by Phil Makin in Thirsk.

We had to fend off a couple of UK trainers but we were over the moon  that we bought our main target. He is a 3 year old son of Dawn Approach  who routed a strong field of sprinter maidens on his first start when  not fully tuned up. He did not have to be given a strong ride to win and  beat off a field that has thrown up many winners since. Trainer Phil Makin told me he's a proper horse and  that we should go all in for him because he could be anything.

He is a big, strong and stunning looking horse with no problems at all. He's currently rated  78 (was 86) and is the most exciting purchase we have made since Jabbaar. He needed his debut run in October at Newcastle and we ran there to blow the cob webs away and to find out how he went on sand. The 6 furlong winner moved very well behind the leaders before tiring coming up the hill.

2.5% shares £1,150 All inclusive fees are £80 per month.

5% shares £2,200. All inclusive fees are £150 per month.

All expenses covered to 30/09/19.

AZOR AHAI (2016 Gelding  BY Sixties Icon & Good Morning Lady)

Will be trained by Chris Gordon in Winchester.

Both Chris Gordon and Phil Makin loved this fellow. He is a very  sound horse with no issues and a very enthusiastic nature. We have had  very good reports about the horse and I think he's worth every penny of  the purchase price and more. He's been rated as high at 80 and is now down to a well handicapped 72.

I am thrilled  that we managed to buy him because he had many much higher rated horses  around him in his in his maiden runs. He has plenty of guts, is tough,  genuine and has lots of improvement to come. He has done very well since purchase will be running in October and we think he's good enough to be running in big handicaps in 2020.

We take a lot of pictures & videos of the horses when they are working at home and racing at the tracks. All of these are shared by email to all of the owners.

We have designed our very own Let's Be Lucky Racing branded scarves & ties, which are given out to shareholders at the racing free of charge.

Visit The Horses

We arrange stable visits a few times per year. This is a great chance to see the horses in their home environment, watch them work on the gallops and we'll even treat you to lunch afterwards.

Flood Defence wins at Carlisle! Our mare finally got her first win for us under a brilliant ride by Jamie Gormley at Carlisle in August. She loved the conditions on the day and ended up winning with a bit to spare!

Fumbo Jumbo picked up her first win for us in impressive style at Thirsk! Despite missing the break, she finished brilliantly to get her head in front. Credit to Rebecca Bastiman who seems to have turned this horse around! Great ride by Jamie Gormley.

Majeste made it 2 wins in 3 days after winning at Hamilton and then Carlisle in quick succession. This horse has really came on since stepping up in trip and loves the softer ground. We feel he will stay even further going forward!

SIOUX FRONTIER Winning At Hamilton

Watch our exciting new horse Sioux Frontier winning his 2nd race on the trot at Hamilton in May. As soon as he got the gap at the bottom of the hill, we knew he would kick on and finish strongly. Another great ride by Lewis Edmunds.

Everyone who buys a 2.5% share or greater (the 2.5% can be in more than 1 horse) will get our Racing View Gold Membership and Pro Betting services for free. This includes UK Racing tips, fully paid Dark Horses and Sports. All shareholders will also get the Pro Betting service that runs right through the year and gives high class jump and flat information.

We cover 3 top jump stables from October to May and 3 flat stable from May to October and gives news on every runner every day. The UK service has had tremendous runs in recent years  including 14 winning months in a row. Bets are given  most days. We had just 2 flat turf Dark Horse Bet in the 2018 turf season and 1 winner at 11/1 into 9/2 SP. The other bet should have won as well and was a fast finishing 4th only beaten 3/4 of a length. This year up to the end of April we have been far more active with 2 winning bets from 3 and e/w Bet that was a close 2nd at 18/1 advised and a 7/1 winner called Pour Me A Drink.

Clients who buy a share in one of our horses get to know the racing plans and our thoughts on the horses chances. They also get a share of the prize money and when we sell the horse a share of the sales proceeds. We have shares available  in 5 horses.
